Why buyers use us

Buying from China shouldn't be a second job

Most of the work in an import order happens between the factory and your door. That is the part we take off your desk.

  • The usual way: Not knowing if the price is fair, or what cheaper will cost you in quality

With ShuoStar: We match the order to a maker that fits your quality and your price, and show you what the price is made of.

  • The usual way: Chasing factories across time zones and a language gap

With ShuoStar: An American on our team deals with the factory in person and answers for the order.

  • The usual way: A unit price that leaves out freight, customs and duty

With ShuoStar: A landed cost, itemised line by line, before you commit.

  • The usual way: A tariff change you only hear about from the invoice

With ShuoStar: The duty line, and who carries a change, written on the quote.

  • The usual way: Goods that turn up after the date you needed them

With ShuoStar: We plan every order back from the date it has to be on site.

  • The usual way: Reorders that start from scratch every time

With ShuoStar: We keep your specification, so a reorder is a quantity and a date.

How we work

From your first message to your door

  1. Hands reviewing a product sample beside a technical drawing

    Tell us what you need

The product, the quantity, where it is going and when it has to be there. A drawing or a photo helps.

  2. A clean factory floor with workbenches and cartons

We find the maker and quote it landed

We look for a factory that can make it to your specification, then send one landed quote with the goods, freight, customs and duty on separate lines.

  3. Cartons stacked and stretch-wrapped on pallets

    Made, packed and shipped

If you want a sample first, we quote it with the order. Then we plan production, packing, export clearance and the sailing back from your date.

  4. Pallets of cartons at a receiving dock with a truck at the door

    Cleared and delivered

Our broker files the customs entry at the tariff line on your quote, and the goods go to a port, a rail ramp or your door.

Price and quality

A good price, at the quality you need

Cheaper is easy to find in China. Cheaper at the quality you signed off is harder to find, and finding it is most of what we do.

  • Matched to your specification

We start from the quality you need, then look for the best price at that quality.

  • A price you can read

Goods, ocean freight, customs entry, duty and delivery each get their own line, so you can see where the money goes.

  • Checked at the factory

We visit the factory while it is made and check the goods against what you approved before they are packed.

  • Reorders start where you left off

We keep your specification, so a reorder starts from what you already approved.

Order-by calendar

Planned back from the day you need it

We start from the date the goods have to be on site and work back through every stage, using the slowest time we plan for each.

  1. Drawing and booking: 7 to 14 days.
  2. Production: 42 to 56 days.
  3. Export clearance: 5 to 10 days.
  4. Ocean transit: 23 to 66 days.
  5. Entry and delivery: 5 to 12 days.
  6. On site: 7 days.

Shown for an order of C9 bulbs. Ocean transit comes from our freight-rate data (Freightos, 2026-09-03); the other stages are planning allowances. Your quote confirms the dates for your order.

What's included

Everything between the factory and your door

  • Sourcing

Who can make it, to your specification, and by when.

  • Samples

Quoted next to the production run, when you want one.

  • Production follow-up

We stay on the order from deposit to packing.

  • Packing to your plan

Master cartons counted to your pallet and container plan.

  • Export clearance

Inland to port, export documents and the vessel cut-off.

  • Ocean freight

A full container, or less than a container for a trial quantity.

  • Customs entry and duty

Filed through our broker, with the tariff line named.

  • Delivery

To a port, a rail ramp or your door.

  • Reorders

Your specification kept on file for the next order.

Freight and the customs entry go through forwarders and a broker we have used since 2020, and the quote puts each on its own line.

Who we supply

Commercial buyers who order by the pallet or the container

These are the buyers we know best. We are choosy about the orders we take on, and if yours is not a fit, the first reply says so.

  • Installers and decor contractors

Dates and duty in writing: ex-works, landed, and who carries a tariff change between quote and landing.

  • Municipal and civic buyers

What we can and cannot produce for your bid file, stated before you ask.

  • Distributors and resellers

We supply people like you, and we will say so in writing.

  • Venues and event operators

Event goods by the container, built to your specification and quoted landed.

Available redacted, on request

  • Redacted ISF filings and entry summaries
  • Container booking and routing records
  • Landed-cost price lists showing the duty column by year

The record

We quote a landed cost because we have been landing our own containers since 2020

Entry filings, HTS lines actually used, forwarders, routings and duty columns by year. Not flattering, dated, and ours.

How we work and how we make money

What we will not do

  • We do not name the factories we buy from.
  • We do not name customers without their written permission, and we do not ask customers to act as references.
  • We do not publish certifications we do not hold, or prices we cannot stand behind.
  • We do not sell to a wholesale customer's named accounts.

Questions

Questions buyers ask first

Do you publish a price?

No. The number depends on the configuration, the quantity, the destination and the duty rate on the day the goods land, so we would rather quote it than guess it. What we do publish is the list of things that move it, so you can see where the cost comes from.

Can I order a sample first?

Ask for one with your request. If a sample run makes sense for the product, we quote it next to the production quantity.

Who pays if the tariff changes between the quote and landing?

The quote says. It names the duty line, the rate we quoted against and which of us carries a change. Nobody finds out from the invoice.

Will you tell me which factory makes it?

No. We do not name the factories we buy from. What every quote does tell you is what you are paying for and why, line by line.

What if my product isn't on the site?

Send it anyway. A request for something we do not list is a sourcing request: the first reply says whether we can get it made, and by when, and the landed quote follows.

Can you ship less than a full container?

Yes. Full containers are the norm, but for a trial quantity we can ship less than a container load. The quote shows what that costs per unit next to what it would cost to fill the box.

Do you deliver to Canada?

Yes. Canadian orders can move by sea and then rail, and we have delivered that way before. Put the delivery city on the request and the quote is worked out to it.

How early do I need to order?

That depends on the product and the date the goods have to be on site. The order-by calendar works back from that date through production, the sailing and the customs entry, at the slowest time we plan for each, and shows the date to order by. Your quote confirms the dates.

Can a public agency buy from a US vendor?

Yes. If your agency has to pay a US vendor, say so in your request and we will quote from our US company. The company that will invoice you is named at the top of every quote.
