How ShuoStar handles what you send through the quote form: what it collects, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to get a copy or have it deleted.

What we collect
What the quote form collects
What you type into it:
- The product, or a line on what you need, the quantity and a rough order value
- Where the goods are going and when you need them there
- Your name, work email and phone number with its country, and whether the number is on WhatsApp
- If you add them: your company, how you are buying, a WeChat ID, a message, and drawings or photos
- After you send it, only if you choose to answer: a good time to call you, with your time zone, and how you found us
The short forms that email you the order-by dates, or ask for a price list, collect only your work email, with the product and the date you chose. They also carry the note on where your visit began, described below.
With each request we also record the page you sent it from and any campaign tags in its address, the country your connection comes from, your browser and its version, and a scrambled form of your IP address. We use the scrambled address only to limit how many requests one place can send in an hour. The request also carries a short note your browser keeps for this site. It says where your visit began: the site or search engine that sent you (only its address), any campaign tags in the link, and the first page you opened, with the time. Your browser keeps the note for 90 days and sends it to us only with a request. When you open the form, the site also checks which country your connection comes from, so the phone field can start with the right country code. Nothing is stored at that point.
To see how people find and use the site, we use Google Analytics. It sets cookies in your browser and records the pages you visit, how you reached the site, your rough location (country and region) and the kind of device you use. It does not see what you type into the forms: when a request goes through, it records only that one was sent, and for which product. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland it sets no cookies. We have switched off the settings that would share this data with Google for advertising. The site sets no other cookies, keeps nothing else in your browser apart from the note above, and runs no advertising trackers.
Why
Why we collect it
- To answer your request: to find out whether we can get it made, to call you about it, to prepare the quote and to reply to you.
- To email you a receipt for a quote or call request, and to send you the order-by dates or the price list you asked for.
- To keep a record of what the form told you would happen when you sent it, and of when we answered.
- To keep spam and automated abuse out of the form.
Who sees it
Who sees it
The people at ShuoStar who handle quotes see it. Each request is stored in our database, and a copy is emailed to our inbox, which is kept apart from the database.
To prepare a quote, we pass the product details from your request, such as the specification, the quantity and any drawing, to the factories we ask to make it.
We do not sell what you send us, and we do not share it for advertising. Four services run the site and the form for us, and handle your details only to do that:
Cloudflare
hosts the site, runs the form and provides its anti-spam check (Turnstile). It also keeps technical logs of requests to the site for a few days, which we use to find faults.
Supabase
stores the requests and the files you upload.
Resend
sends the email that brings each request to our inbox, the receipt we email you when a quote or call request arrives, and the order-by dates you ask for.
Google
runs Google Analytics, which measures visits to the site as described above. It never receives what you type into the forms.
Retention
How long we keep it
- Requests
- Quote requests and the short ones alike: 24 months after they arrive. Then we remove the details that identify you (your name, email, phone number, WeChat ID, time zone, company, message, and the destination apart from its country) and keep the rest, such as the product and the dates, to see how well we handle requests.
- Requests that become orders
- These become business records, and how long we keep them is not decided yet.
- Spam
- 90 days, then deleted.
- Files you upload
- 12 months, then deleted.
A job runs every day to carry this out for requests and spam. Files are still deleted by hand, and the periods above do not cover the copy of each request in our inbox. If you want your details removed sooner, or removed from the inbox as well, ask and we will do it.
Your requests
A copy, a correction or deletion
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Reply to any email we have sent you, or reach us through the contact page, and tell us what you would like.

When anything above changes, we change this page and the date at the top.
