Steel crowd control barricades from China,
built to your spec
Bike rack barricades, also called police barricades or French barriers: a welded steel frame with upright bars that hooks into the next one. We have them made to your specification and shipped by the container, for event companies, rental fleets and cities. A Type III road barricade, with its reflective boards, is a different product. Send the frame, the feet, the finish and how many, and we come back with the date and the landed quote.

Barricades in a rental fleet
If barricades are one part of a rental fleet, the party rental guide covers buying them alongside tents and chairs and shipping the lot in one container.
Which barrier each venue needs
Bike rack barricades are one of five products sold as crowd control barriers. The barrier types guide matches each one to a venue (a parade route, a queue, the front of a stage) and covers what the road agency and the fire code official look at.
Before you ask
What to specify for custom crowd control barriers
The first answer we give is to the specification you send, so this is what a factory needs before it can say yes. The quote form asks for the same things.
Frame and tube
The frame's length and height, and the tube's outside diameter and wall (or gauge). If the frames join a fleet you own, match those.
Upright bars
Their diameter, and the spacing or how many per frame. With the tube, they set the weight of steel and most of the price.
Feet
Flat, bridge or wheeled, and how many of each. Bridge feet let cables run under the line; corners and gates may want a different foot.
Hook and loop
Which style, and whether the new frames must hook into barricades you already own. If they must, send a photo and the measurements of one.
Finish, colour and plates
Hot-dip galvanized after welding, pre-galvanized tube, powder coat, or powder coat over galvanizing; a colour reference if it is painted; and what goes on any plates.
Quantity, packing and date
How many frames, how you want them bundled and labelled, where they ship, and the date you need them. The quote works back from that date.
Price
What sets the price of a steel barricade
We do not publish a unit price. The honest number depends on your frame, the finish, the quantity and where the barricades land, so it comes as a landed cost. We do publish what moves it.
The steel in each frame
The tube's size and wall, the number of upright bars and the frame's length set how much steel goes in, and steel is most of the factory price.
The finish
Hot-dip galvanizing after welding, pre-galvanized tube, powder coat, and powder coat over galvanizing are each priced differently.
Feet, gates and plates
Bridge feet, wheels, gate frames and fleet plates each add to the price of a plain frame.
How the frames pack
The packing plan for your exact frame and feet decides how many fit in a container, and that count spreads the ocean freight across every frame.
Landing in the US
Inland freight in China, ocean freight, the customs entry and delivery from the port are each priced on your exact design and quoted on their own line.
Itemised on the quote, hidden in a unit price
- Inland freight in China to the port
- The customs entry and the broker's fees
- Drayage from the port, and unloading with a forklift or at a dock
- Delivery to your yard, warehouse or venue
Timing
The date is set on your order
We do not publish a production window in this category. It depends on the configuration you ask for, so the date comes with the first reply, and the calendar for your order is built from that date and the ocean transit on your lane.
How the date is set
We build these to the specification you send, so the first reply confirms the specification and the date.
- Tell us the specification, the quantity and the date you need them.
- We confirm the specification and the production date with the factory.
- The landed quote follows, itemised line by line.
What goes wrong
What we check before metal barricades ship
Common failures
- New frames that will not hook into the fleet you own, because the hook, the loop or the frame height is off
- Bare welds on frames made from pre-galvanized tube, left without a touch-up, which is where rust starts
- Too few of one kind of foot in the shipment, or feet that do not fit the frame's legs
Buyer mistakes
- Sending a photo of a barricade without its measurements
- Ordering flat feet only when a site needs bridge feet over its cables
- Leaving the colour and the fleet plates until the frames are already made
Inspection checklist
- A sound weld where every upright bar meets the top and bottom rails
- Zinc or paint over every joint and weld, with no bare steel showing
- Two frames hooked together to prove the hook and loop fit, with the feet fitted
- Frames, feet and plates counted against the packing list
- Photographs of the bundles and the loaded container before it is sealed

How it gets to you
- Shipped by sea from South China in full containers, the frames banded in bundles
- Delivered to your yard or a warehouse, unloaded with a forklift or at a dock
- The count per container comes from the packing plan for your exact frame and feet, in writing before you commit
- A container fills on space and weight together, so heavy frames can reach its weight limit first
Every line of the landing is priced on your exact design and set out on the quote. How that works Add up a landed cost
What we do on an order like this
- We confirm the barricade you describe with the factory, and the date, before you commit.
- We ship welded, hot-dip galvanized steel frames every season, and we have quoted galvanized steel by the container. A barricade is built the same way, from steel tube that is welded and then galvanized.
- Before the frames are packed, we check them at the factory against the specification you approved: the welds, the zinc, the hook and loop, the feet and the count.
- We work out the landed cost to your yard line by line, so you can set it against a price from a US stockist.
Questions
Asked about steel crowd control barricades
What are steel crowd control barricades called?
Most people call them bike rack barricades. You will also hear police barricades, French barriers, interlocking steel barricades, metal barricades and crowd control barriers. They all mean a steel frame with upright bars, hooked end to end into a line. A Type III barricade is something else: a road barricade with reflective boards, used for traffic work.
Flat feet or bridge feet: which do I need?
Flat feet lie flat on the ground and are the usual choice on a street or a plaza. Bridge feet arch up in the middle, so a cable or a hose can run under the line without lifting it. Many fleets keep both. Tell us how many of each you want, and whether corners or gates need something different.
Hot-dip galvanized, pre-galvanized or powder coat: what is the difference?
Hot-dip galvanizing dips the finished, welded frame in molten zinc, so the welds and the joints are coated too. Pre-galvanized frames are welded from tube that was coated before it was cut, so the welds need a touch-up. Powder coat gives the frame a colour, and over galvanizing there is still zinc under the paint where it chips. Which suits you depends on how hard the frames are used and whether you want a colour.
What do you need from me to quote a barricade?
The frame's length and height, the tube's diameter and wall, the upright bars (their diameter, and the spacing or how many), the feet and how many of each, the hook and loop, the finish and colour, any plates or gate frames, the quantity, and where they ship. If the new frames have to match barricades you own, send a photo and the measurements of one.
Can new frames hook into the barricades I already own?
They can, if they are specified to match. Send a photo of the hook and the loop, how high each sits on the end upright, the frame's height and the tube's size, and we specify the new frames to hook into your line. Frames from different makers often do not fit each other, so we ask before the order rather than after.
Can the frames carry our colour, our name or a fleet number?
Yes, if the order says so. Powder coat comes in the colour you choose, and frames can be coloured by owner, venue or zone. A plate on the frame can carry your name, a phone number or a fleet number, so frames that go out to events come back to the right yard.
How does a container order of barricades work?
The frames are stacked flat and banded into bundles, with the feet and fittings boxed beside them. How many fit depends on your exact frame and feet, so the factory works out a packing plan for your design and you get the count in writing before you commit. A container fills on space and weight together, and at your end it needs a forklift or a dock to unload.
What goes into the landed cost?
The factory price, set mostly by the steel, the finish and the feet; inland freight to the port in China; ocean freight; the customs entry and the broker; and delivery from the port to your yard. The quote puts each on its own line, and the landed cost calculator on this site adds them up for any shipment.
Who handles customs when the barricades land?
A licensed customs broker files the entry. Before the order ships, we have the broker confirm the charges on your exact design, and the quote shows them on their own line, so the landing is priced before you commit.
What do you check before the barricades ship?
We check the frames at the factory before they are packed: the welds at every upright bar, zinc or paint over the joints, two frames hooked together to prove the fit, the feet, and the count against the packing list. You can also ask for photographs of the bundles and the loaded container before it is sealed.
