knitted or woven
Throws with your logo or design for the gift shop of an attraction or venue: knitted or woven into the blanket as a jacquard, or carried on a leather patch sewn onto a soft fleece throw, with your own sewn labels. Knitted in, woven in or patched: which suits your design
Most custom blankets with a logo are stock fleece with the logo embroidered on. A knitted jacquard carries your design in the stitch, which suits bold shapes in a few colours. A woven jacquard holds finer detail, with a tapestry face and usually a fringe. A fleece or sherpa throw carries your logo on a sewn leather patch or in embroidery, and the patch gives it the most souvenir look of the three. We have had logo blankets with a leather patch made for a Christmas light attraction's gift shop, shipped with the season's lights.
Used for
- Throws sold at retail in the gift shop of a Christmas light attraction, a zoo, a ski area, a museum or a stadium
- A season's run of one design in a few colourways, ordered again the next winter with the same patch
- Blankets on the same shelf as the shop's beanies and scarves, with the same leather patch on all of them
Bought by
- Venues and attractions that sell throws under their own name in their own shop
- Merchandise managers who buy the winter's stock in spring and summer
- Gift shop buyers who want their design knitted or woven into the blanket rather than stitched onto a stock blank
Materials
- Acrylic or wool yarn, or either one blended with polyester, for knitted and woven throws
- Polyester fleece or sherpa for a soft throw that carries a patch or embroidery
- Cotton if you ask for it, with the cotton's origin traced back to the bale before you commit
- A leather or faux-leather patch, debossed or printed, sewn on all four sides
Options
- Your design knitted in as a jacquard, woven in as a jacquard with or without a fringe, or carried on a patch or in embroidery
- One layer or two, reversible or one-sided, with a hemmed, bound, whipstitched or fringed edge
- Yarn colours matched to the Pantone references you send, or picked from the factory's yarn card
- Sewn labels with your wording, hang tags, and barcodes printed from the numbers you supply
- The same leather patch as your beanies and scarves
Packaging
- Folded to the size of your display, with a belly band or in a polybag, and your hang tags put on at the factory
- Cartons marked with the design, colourway and count, and a packing list for every carton
A throw in a range of your own design
A throw that carries the same patch as your beanies sells as a set with them. The gift shop merchandise guide covers one design across several items, the order the decisions fall in, and shipping the range together.
Before you ask
The spec sheet we send the factory
These are the fields we ask you for. The factory quotes and samples against them, so a fuller sheet brings the first quote closer to the real one.
Construction
Knitted jacquard with your design knitted in, woven jacquard with or without a fringe, or fleece or sherpa with a sewn patch or embroidery; one layer or two; reversible or not.
Size and edge
The finished width and length, with or without the fringe, and the edge: hemmed, bound, whipstitched or fringed. Throw sizes for adults only; we do not make baby blankets.
Fibre and yarn
The fibre or blend (acrylic, wool, either with polyester, or cotton traced back to the bale) and how heavy the throw should feel. The factory names the yarn supplier and the fibre's origin before you commit.
Artwork and colours
Your logo or design as a vector file, its colours by Pantone reference or a physical swatch, and where it sits and how large. The factory tells you which colours your design can hold and which would merge.
Leather patch
Cowhide, pigskin, goatskin or sheepskin, genuine or split, or faux (PU) leather; size, shape and colour; debossed, printed or engraved; sewn on all four sides, and where; and whether a patch from an earlier order is reused.
Colourways and quantities
Each design and colourway, and how many of each.
Sewn label
The wording for the fibre content, "Made in China" and your company name or RN number, care instructions if you want them, and where the label is sewn.
Retail finish
Hang tag artwork, the barcode or SKU numbers from your own system, a belly band or polybag, and the fold that fits your display.
Approvals
Photos of the yarn or fabric in your colours, a patch sample, and one finished sample with its label, tag and packing; and who signs off.
Packing
How many to a carton, the carton marks, and a packing list for each design and colourway; and whether the blankets travel with other goods.
Dates and delivery
The day the blankets must be in your shop, the delivery address, and whether there is a loading dock.
Whose marks
Written authorisation for every logo and mark on the artwork. A team, character or sponsor mark needs its owner's written approval before sampling.
Price
What sets the price of a logo blanket
We do not publish a blanket price. It turns on the construction, the size, the fibre and how many you order of each design and colourway, so you get a landed cost, line by line.
The construction
Knitted jacquard, woven jacquard, or fleece with a patch, and whether the throw is one layer or two.
Size and edge
How large the throw is, and whether the edge is hemmed, bound, whipstitched or finished with a fringe.
The fibre
Acrylic, wool, polyester, a blend or cotton, and how heavy you want the throw to feel.
The design
How many colours your design carries and how much of the throw it covers. The factory tells you what your artwork can hold.
Patch, labels and retail finish
A leather or faux-leather patch, the sewn labels, hang tags and barcodes, and how each throw is folded and packed.
How many of each design and colourway
The loom or the knitting machine is set up once for each design and colourway, and that setup is spread over every blanket in the run.
Landing at your shop
Ocean freight, the customs entry and duty, and delivery to your door, each on its own line of the quote.
Itemised on the quote, hidden in a unit price
- The pre-production sample, and any rework before you approve it
- A new patch die, which a patch from an earlier order does not need again
- Hang tags, barcodes, belly bands and polybags, if the blankets are to go straight onto the shelf
- The broker's fees for the customs entry, and delivery from the port
Timing
Work back from the day the blankets go on sale
We do not publish a production window for blankets. Plan them alongside the lights: the quote in spring, the design, yarn and patch signed off over the summer, and the blankets shipped with the season's containers.
How the date is set
The date your design has to be signed off comes from the day the blankets have to be on your shelves.
- Tell us the design, the quantity and the day the blankets have to be in your shop.
- We work back through the yarn and patch approvals, the sample, the run, the packing and the crossing, and tell you the date the design has to be signed off.
- The landed quote follows, itemised line by line.
What goes wrong
Before the run: your sample, your yarn, your patch, your label
A throw sold in your shop is a retail textile, so it needs its own sewn label. We write the wording into the spec sheet (the fibre content, "Made in China" and your company name or RN number) and send you a photo of it sewn on the sample, with your hang tag and barcode beside it. On a blanket, care instructions are your choice. Your broker or counsel can confirm what your goods need.
Common failures
- Fine lines in a logo that vanish once knitted, because the artwork went to the run without a sample
- Yarn colours that drift from the approved photos when the run uses a different dye lot from the sample
- A patch sewn on crooked or off-centre, so every folded throw looks wrong on the shelf
- A sewn label missing the importer's name or RN number, or the country of origin, found only when the blankets reach the shop
- Cotton yarn from a mill nobody can name, which puts the whole shipment at risk when it lands
Buyer mistakes
- Sending fine, detailed artwork for a knitted throw before the factory has shown what the knit can hold
- Leaving the barcodes and hang tags until after the run, so the blankets get tagged by hand in the stockroom
- Adding a team, character or sponsor mark to the artwork without written permission from whoever owns it
Inspection checklist
- The run checked against the signed-off sample: design, colours and size
- The patch checked for position and for stitching on every side
- The sewn label read against the spec sheet: fibre content, "Made in China", your name or RN number
- Hang tags, barcodes and folds checked against your shop's instructions
- Carton counts and marks checked, and photos taken before the cartons are sealed

How it gets to you
- Shipped by sea from China in cartons, on their own or in one shipment with the rest of your order
- Blankets often travel with other merchandise, or with a light attraction's season of lights
- A customs broker files the entry when the shipment lands
- Delivered from the port to your shop, warehouse or venue, with or without a loading dock
Who carries duty, and what happens if the rate changes between quote and landing, is stated on every quote. How that works Add up a landed cost
What we do on an order like this
- We turn your artwork, your colours and your shop's needs into a spec sheet that the factory quotes and works to.
- Before you commit, we ask the factory for the fibre content and the yarn supplier, and for cotton, the yarn mill and where the cotton came from, back to the bale. If the mill cannot be named, we do not go ahead.
- Your logo goes on only with your written authorisation, and any other mark only with its owner's.
- You approve photos of the yarn and the patch, then one finished sample with its label and tag. We check the run against that sample before it is packed, and handle the paperwork that lands it.
Questions
Asked before ordering custom logo blankets
How much does it cost to get a custom blanket made?
It turns on the construction, the size, the fibre, how many colours your design carries, the patch, the labels and packing, how many you order of each design, and the freight and customs entry. We do not publish a blanket price. The quote puts each of those on its own line, and the landed cost calculator on this site adds them up.
Where can we get blankets made with our logo?
Promotional suppliers embroider a logo onto stock fleece blankets, which suits a small batch you need soon. A factory run, with your design knitted or woven in or your patch sewn on, suits a venue that sells its own design for a season and can order months ahead. We run the second route, with factories in China.
What are woven blankets called?
Usually jacquard throws, and sometimes tapestry throws, because the design is woven into the cloth on a jacquard loom, often with a fringe at each end. A knitted jacquard is the knitted version: softer and stretchier, with bolder and simpler shapes.
Is the design woven in or printed on?
On a woven or knitted jacquard, the design is made of the yarns themselves. Turn the throw over: a design woven or knitted in usually shows on the back in reversed colours, while a printed design sits on the surface. A fleece throw carries your logo on a sewn patch or as embroidery.
What size should a gift-shop throw be?
That depends on what sells in your shop. Tell us the finished size, including any fringe, or send a throw you already sell. The factory's drawing and the sample show the size before the run, and a throw larger than the usual sofa size is possible.
Can we order without a minimum?
A factory run is set up for each design and colourway, so it suits a season's quantity rather than a handful of blankets, and the quote states the quantity it is based on. If you need a few blankets in a hurry, a promotional supplier working on stock blanks is a better fit.
What label does a blanket sold in our shop need?
As general information: the FTC's Textile Act covers throws, so the sewn label gives the fibre content, the country of origin and the name or RN number of the company that imports or sells the blanket. The FTC's care labelling rule covers clothing and leaves blankets out, so care instructions are your choice. Your hang tag and barcode come from your own shop system. Your broker or counsel can confirm what your goods need.
Will we see a sample before production?
Yes. You approve photos of the yarn or fabric in your colours and of the patch, then one finished sample with its label, tag and packing, in hand or from photos. The run starts once you sign it off.
Can you put our old leather patch on the new blankets?
Yes. Send us the patch, or tell us which order it came from, and the factory matches it. You see a photo of the new patch beside the old one before the run, and the same patch can go on your beanies and scarves too.
When should we order for the holiday season?
Ask for the quote in spring and sign off the design and yarn over the summer, so the blankets can ship with the season's containers. Tell us the day they have to be in your shop, and we work back to the date your design has to be signed off.
Where does the cotton come from?
For a cotton or cotton-blend throw, we ask the factory for the yarn mill's name and the cotton's origin back to the bale before you commit. If the mill cannot be named, the answer is no. For acrylic and wool, we ask for the yarn supplier and where the fibre came from as well.
Can the blankets ship with our other merchandise?
Yes. They can share a shipment with your beanies, scarves or other goods, or with a light attraction's season of lights. Each design and colourway gets its own carton marks and packing list, so your stockroom can check them in.
