Chairs for a new rental business

Chairs and tables usually come first for a new rental company, and the guide covers what to buy next and how chairs share a container with tents and barricades.

Starting a party rental business

Before you ask

What to specify

The quote is built on the specification you send. These are the choices that decide what gets made and what it costs.

  • Frame

Say how the chairs will be used and how many seasons of rental you expect from them. That decides the tube size and wall thickness, which is most of the price.

  • Seat and back

Resin, padded vinyl or fabric, and the colour. Tell us how the chairs are cleaned between events, because that narrows the choice.

  • Weight rating

Say the load each chair must hold, and whether you want to test a sample chair before production. The rating goes on the specification the chairs are built to.

  • Finish

The powder-coat colour, and whether the finish has to survive stacking on carts and trucking between venues. If it does, it goes on the specification.

  • Packing

Chairs per carton, or chairs stacked on pallets under stretch film. Packing decides how many fit in a container and how they come off the truck.

  • Quantity and delivery

A pallet, a few pallets or a full container, and where it goes: a rail ramp, your warehouse, or a venue with or without a loading dock.

Price

What sets the price

We do not publish a unit price, because the honest number depends on your configuration, quantity, destination and the duty rate on the day the goods land. We do publish what moves it.

Request a quote

  1. Steel gauge and frame weight

The frame is most of the material cost and most of the weight on the ocean leg.

  2. Seat material and finish

Resin, padded and fabric seats each price and pack differently.

  3. Quantity and how the chairs are packed

Folding chairs usually fill a container's space before its weight limit, so the packing decides how many go in the box, and that count spreads the freight.

  4. Duty line and the rate on the entry date

Seating has its own tariff line. The quote names it and says who carries a change.

Itemised on the quote, hidden in a unit price

  • Duty at the rate in force on the entry date
  • Drayage, and unloading at your warehouse or venue
  • Any testing your own liability cover requires

Timing

The date is set on your order

We do not publish a production window for this product. It depends on your specification and the quantity, so the date comes with the first reply, and the calendar for your order is built from that date and the ocean transit on your lane.

How the date is set

We build these to the specification you send, so we set the date with you.

  1. Tell us the specification, the quantity and the date you need them.
  2. We confirm the specification and the production date with the factory.
  3. The landed quote follows, itemised line by line.

How the order-by calendar works

What goes wrong

Failures we plan against

Common failures

  • Welds that fail after a season of rental use
  • Finish that wears after a season of stacking and trucking

Buyer mistakes

  • Buying on unit price without a landed cost
  • Approving a photo instead of a sample chair under real use

Inspection checklist

  • A sample chair load tested by you before production
  • Welds and finish checked on a carton pulled at random before loading

Shipping and entry

How it gets to you, and our part in it

Request a quote

Stretch-wrapped pallets of export cartons at a factory dock beside a container truck

How it gets to you

  • Full containers from South China, planned around how the chairs are packed
  • Delivered to a rail ramp or to your warehouse

Who carries duty, and what happens if the rate changes between quote and landing, is stated on every quote. How that works Add up a landed cost

What we do on an order like this

  • We take your specification to the factory and confirm the frame, the seat, the finish and the date in writing before you commit.
  • Before the chairs are loaded, we check them at the factory against the specification you approved: the welds, the finish, the packing and the count.
  • We work out the landed cost to your warehouse line by line, so you can set it against a price from a US stockist.

Questions

Asked before ordering

What do you need from me to quote folding chairs?

The frame and seat you want, the colour, the load each chair must hold, how they should be packed, the quantity and where they go. With that, we set the date with the factory and price the order landed at your door.

Can I get a sample chair first?

Yes. Ask for one in your request. A sample chair is the first thing we quote, so you can load test it under your own use before production starts.

How many folding chairs fit in a container?

It depends on the frame, the seat and the packing, so we do not publish a number. Folding chairs usually fill the space in a container before they reach its weight limit, which makes the packing as important as the chair. The quote works it out for your specification.

Can you supply folding tables as well?

Send tables as a sourcing request, with the size, the top material and the quantity. We tell you what can be made and by when, and the landed quote follows.

Who pays the duty on folding chairs from China?

The quote shows duty as its own line, at the tariff line we intend to file under, and says who carries the difference if the rate changes before the goods land. The rate that applies is the one in force on the entry date.
