Feather flags for a rental fleet

Feather flags often sit beside tents, chairs and barricades in a rental fleet. The guide covers what a new rental business buys first, and when a US stockist suits better than a factory order.

Before you ask

Custom feather flags and rectangle flags: what to specify

The quote is built on what you send. These are the choices that decide how each flag is printed and sewn, and what it costs.

  • Artwork and colours

Vector artwork you own or are licensed to print, and the colours it has to match. The strike-off is judged against them.

  • Style and finish

A rectangle with a header and grommets, a pole sleeve, or a feather or teardrop shape. Each one is sewn differently.

  • The poles you own

A photo of the pole and base, and the pole measured from the base to the tip, so the sleeve and the fixing points fit.

  • Single or double sided

A double-sided flag reads the right way round from both sides, and it is sewn as two layers.

  • Where it flies

Outdoors, indoors or in a tent. Indoors and in a tent, a fire code official can ask about the fabric, so we ask first.

  • Labels and packing

The label wording (fibre, origin, your name or RN) and how the flags are split between your locations or events.

Flags hung indoors or in a tent

Indoor flags raise the same fabric question as a tent top. The tent fabric guide covers the papers a fire code official can ask for, who signs each one, and what the label says, so you know what to ask about before the flags are made.

Price

What sets the price of custom flags in bulk

We do not publish a price per flag. It depends on the styles, the sides, how many flags you order and where they land, so it comes as a landed cost. We do publish what moves it.

Request a quote

  1. Style and size

Rectangle, feather and teardrop flags use different amounts of fabric and are sewn differently, and the size you name sets how much fabric each flag takes.

  2. Single or double sided

A double-sided flag is two printed layers sewn together, so it costs more than a single layer, which reads in reverse from the back.

  3. Fabric and finish

Knitted or woven polyester, and the header and grommets, sleeve or hem each flag needs.

  4. How many flags, in how many designs

One design in quantity spreads the setup across every flag. Many designs in small counts each need their own strike-off and setup.

  5. Packing and where the flags land

Flags split and labelled by location take more handling than flags packed by design, and the delivery address sets the last leg.

Itemised on the quote, hidden in a unit price

  • The customs entry and delivery to your door, each on its own line
  • Splitting and labelling the flags by location
  • Any lab test on the fabric that your venue or fire official asks for

Timing

Flags ordered ahead of the season

We do not publish a production window for flags. It depends on the styles and the count, so the date comes with the first reply. A flag needed this week is a job for a US printer; a season of flags in quantity is ordered ahead.

How the date is set

Flags are printed to your artwork, so the first reply confirms the styles, the count and the date.

  1. Send the artwork, the styles, how many and the date they have to fly.
  2. We confirm the strike-off, the styles and the production date with the factory.
  3. The landed quote follows, itemised line by line.

How we work

What goes wrong

Where flag orders go wrong, and what we check

Common failures

  • A sleeve that does not fit the pole you already own
  • Colours that drift between the first run and the reorder
  • A print that reads backwards from one side when you wanted it double sided
  • Flags for many locations arriving mixed together in one carton

Buyer mistakes

  • Ordering feather flags without measuring the poles you have
  • Sending artwork you do not own or are not licensed to print
  • Leaving a season of flags until just before opening

Inspection checklist

  • The strike-off checked against your colour reference before the run
  • Sleeves, headers and grommets checked against the drawing you signed off
  • Counts and labels checked for each location before the cartons are sealed

Shipping and entry

Bagged, folded flags stacked one pile per location on a packing table beside open cartons

How it gets to you

  • Ocean freight from China, planned back from the date the flags have to fly
  • Delivered to your warehouse or venue, with each location packed as its own set

Each step of the landing is priced on your flags and set out on the quote. How that works Add up a landed cost

What we do on an order like this

  • We take your artwork and styles to the factory and confirm the strike-off, the sizes and the date in writing before you commit.
  • Before the flags are packed, we check them at the factory against the artwork you signed off: the colours, the sewing, the sleeves and the count.
  • We work out the landed cost to your door line by line, so you can set it against a price from a US printer.

Questions

Asked about custom flags

How much does it cost to have custom flags made?

It depends on the style, the size, whether the flags are single or double sided, how many you order and in how many designs, then the freight and the entry. We do not publish a price per flag. The landed quote gives each of those its own line, so you can set it against a US printer's price.

Where should we get custom flags made?

If you need a flag this week, go to a US printer. A season of flags ordered ahead in quantity, for a venue, an event series or every location in a group, is a factory order. That is the part we run, landed at your door.

Can you make feather flags to fit the poles we already have?

Yes. Send a photo of the pole and its base, and measure the pole from the base to the tip. The factory draws the sleeve and the fixing points to fit, and nothing is cut until you approve the drawing.

What label does a flag need?

Flags with a heading, and larger flags, come under the US textile labelling rules: the fibre content, the country of origin, and the name or RN of the company responsible. We write the label wording into the spec sheet, and your broker or counsel confirms it for your flags.

Can the flags hang indoors or in a tent?

Tell us on the first call. To a fire code official, flags hung in a hall, a lobby or a tent are decorations, and the official can ask about the fabric. The test paperwork for the fabric in your order is discussed and agreed with you before you commit.

Can flags for many locations ship together?

Yes. Each location's flags are counted, bagged and labelled as their own set, with a packing list, and the sets travel in one shipment. Tell us the locations and the count for each when you ask.

Can you supply American flags too?

We quote flags in your own design: logos, colours, venues and events. American and state flags are best bought from a US flag maker.
